You will find on Penpal Tradition a variety of services that allows you to develop a rich and exciting friendship with our different members living every part of the world.
Our services are divided into two memberships, the first one aimed at members who just want to benefit from our basic services, namely the private messaging system and the penpal search engine, as for the second membership it has been designed for members willing to take full advantage of our advanced services and features, reserved to our privileged and active members.
In addition to these two memberships, we are offering a snailmail service, which is free of charge for our Silver members.
1) Basic membership
This membership has been designed for members who don't need to benefit from the great and low-cost advantages of our advanced services. As a Basic member you will get :
- Member profile : your profile is your best asset, and enables you to put in foreground your personality, character traits, interests and hobbies and what you are expecting from your penpals. Completing your profile carefully will allow you to appear in priority in our penpal search engine, and make other members want to know you better !
- Private messaging (limited to 3 new letters per day) : all our members are offered a private messaging system, allowing them to send and receive letters on the site. This will help you keep your e-mail address confidential if you don't want to be contacted outside the site.
- Guestbook : each member is given a personal guestbook, in which their penpals may leave a friendly message.
- Penpal search engine : browse our penpal database by using various search criteria, or the AutoMatch search, allowing you to find in one click penpals matching the preferences you entered in your profile.
2) Silver membership
This membership will give you access to advanced services and features in addition to the basic features :
- Messaging limit extension : send up to 15 new letters per day !
- Penpal Messenger : chat online with your penpals using our instant messenger. You simply need to click the Messenger icon in an online member's profile to start a chat session. A messenger icon will blink on your penpal screen to make him or her know that you want to chat.
- Photo album : share your photos with your penpals or with members who visit your personal page, so they can learn more about you. You may share any photos, like your last holidays, your hobbies or interests, your family, your friends, your country or whatever you want to share with your penpals. This will add an undeniable interest and personality to your profile.
- Greeting card service : send a lovely bunch of flowers or a birthday card to your penpal's message box, using our greeting card service.
Additional features reserved to our Silver members :
- Personalise your letters : by choosing our Silver membership, you will get the possibility to personalise letters you send to your penfriends. Use our various stationeries or the options to change the colors of your letters. You will even be able to attach a picture to your letters.
- Sort your letters : you can create different folders for each one of your penpals, hence keeping your letters in distinct folders. Also note that Silver members are not concerned about the automatic deletion of letters older than 3 months.
- Possibility to be contacted by members matching your preferences : by checking the different boxes on your preference page, you may choose not to be contacted by members whose profile doesn't satisfy your age, language, country and/or gender preferences. This may be useful if you don't want to receive messages from members who live outside the African, or European continent and who don't speak english or spanish, for example.
3) Snailmail (postal) correspondence
We set up a service allowing our members who want to get snailmail penpals, to show their postal address in their profile. This service has a very low cost of 3.00 € (about 3.00 USD) for Basic members, and is free for Silver members (except for the trial version).
The main advantage of this service, is that it lets you decide whether to make your address visible only to your favorite members (who are listed in your favorite list) or to members whose profile matches your preferences (age, gender, country, language). You may also choose to make your address public for any member who would request it.
4) Why should I use your snailmail service ?
Firstly, because this system protects the confidentiality of your personal details, which is not guaranteed if you show your postal address to anybody directly in your profile (personal introduction, ...).
Secondly, by saving your address in your profile, other members will be able to easily find you in our search engine using the "search members available for snailmailing" option.
You may want to give away your postal address to your penpals via the private messaging system. However, this would spoil the surprise and pleasure of receiving letters from people you don't know yet. Besides our system allows you to specify the category of members who may request your address and the category of members who may not (for example members who are not in your favorite list, or members who don't match your preferences).
Try to save your address in your profile via our snailmail service, and in no time will you be receiving letters from penpals all around the world !
