Penpal Tradition has been online since January 1st, 2007 as a registered Belgian Business of the I-Services Group. From the start our aim has been to develop an international community of members from all horizons and ways of life, interested in learning about other cultures through snailmail and e-mail correspondance, but also to provide our members with unique services to help them keep in touch with their penfriends on a multicultural online platform.
We founded our club to help people find penpals and friends from every parts of the globe, and feed their needs of learning about foreign countries, so anyone may develop an exciting and rich international friendship by sharing his or her culture, ways of life, interests with others. To achieve this goal we invite all our members to complete a honest and detailed profile that other members seeking penpals can browse on Penpal Tradition website.
By joining our club you will get :
1) User friendly and safe services
Our internal messaging system, allows you to exchange personalised messages with your penpals without giving your personal details such as postal or e-mail addresses. However you are still free to show your personal details in your profile if you want to receive e-mail an postal letters from our members.
Also, by subscribing to our Silver membership you get other great services and functionalities like the possibility to block members who don't satisfy your preferences (age, gender, language, country) from contacting you. Hence preventing you from receiving letters from members whose profile doesn't satisfy your preferences.
2) Quality penpal selection
Our administrator verifies each member's profile on a daily basis to check that they have no incoherence (e.g. IP address and country information that do not match, ...) and duly satisfy our Terms of Use, so that any fake or innapropriate account is immediately deleted. Our quality checking includes removing any information of sexual character, vulgar or offensive language, or correcting any incoherence in our members' profile. This way you can be assured to get true an sincere penfriends.
Also our quality selection will soon be including a rewarding system, which rewards active members by giving participation points. Every time you are using our services, sending letters and messages to our members via our private messaging system, chatting on Penpal Messenger, completing your profile, logging in to your account on a regular basis, you are given participation points. At a certain level of points, you gain a star in your profile. You can gain up to 5 stars. The more active and regular you are, the more points and stars you will be given. On another hand, if you never log into your member area, or only a few times in a month or in a year, you will lose points. Active members, with the most points, will appear first in the search results, and members with less points will appear last. Members with no points at all will not be displayed in the search results and will not receive any messages from our other members. So the more active you are, the best appearance you will get in our search engine, and hence the more penpals you will have.
3) Protection of our minor members
To protect our minor members, we are not allowing adult members to contact members who are younger than 18. They are not allowed to see their private details either, such as e-mail or postal addresses.
4) Snailmail and e-mail penpals
For our members who want to receive e-mail and traditional postal letters from everywhere in the world, we are providing a system allowing our members to make their e-mail and postal addresses public or private in their profile. Also, they may choose to show their contact details only to their favorite members or to members who satisfy their preferences. We are the only penpal club to provide this system, allowing you to make your address public but hidden from unwanted categories of members.
5) Anti-Spam Policy
We have strict anti-spam and anti-advertising policies. We understand that our members don't want to be bothered by advertising and innapropriate letters from people asking money. If you happen to receive such messages in your private box, just report it to us by means of the "report an innapropriate letter" link and we will immediately terminate the author's account.
6) Customer and Member Support
If you have any technical troubles with our services, just contact us and we will reply to your mail within 24 hours.
